Muddy Nasty River – Demo (Self-Release)
By Darryl Baysinger
September 24, 2005
Muddy Nasty River is "Dirty" Dave Johnson's "other" band. Muddy Nasty River is quite a bit more blues-based than his "other" project, The Glasspack.
I downloaded this 3 song demo from their MySpace site, which also said you could contact "Dirty" Dave for copies of the demo. Anyways, I contacted "Dirty" Dave to see if there was more. He told me, "that was it” and that if I wanted to review it, "send us a copy."
Like I said, it is a bit more blues-based than The Glasspack.
Title track (Muddy Nasty River)
Short and sweet. Very guitar driven swamp boogie instrumental
80 Proof - Very blues oriented. It has a Hendrix feel to it, especially with all the soloing, wah-wah pedals and distortion.
Floyd's Nob - Not real long. More of a driving, heavy rock track. The vocals kind of sound like those of The Glasspack.
Muddy Nasty River;
"Dirty" Dave Johnson - vocals, guitar
Karri Hamlett - vocals, bass
Mark Campbell - drums, percussion
This is a real good demo with good sound! I look forward to a full-length from these guys in the near future!
