Chugakusei-Kanoke - Japanese Doom-Punk madness
so how hard can you rock? after all these years I still don't know, but these dudes (dudettes?) do it pretty hard. I came across them per chance download-upon-recommendation of what seems to be their last album from 2008, aptly titled 告白を強いる伝染 ('The Infection Which Forces Confession' according to the place I got it from. the band name seems to translate to 'Junior High School Student Coffins'. no guarantee on that, but it sounds awesome.)
they have released 2 albums and two splits before this one and apparently a split came this year. now to the music: a grande fusion of HEAVY doom-rocking-rock, infused with a punkish vibe and occasional heavy metallic tendencies. like a 70s riff machine incarnated through Church of Misery, Blood Farmers and Black Flag. in places I even thought of Slough Feg, which also fits well because these guys don't seem to take themselves all too serious all the time. so this is no one-trick pony. they do a lot and they do it well, kicking ass all along. plus talk about an excentric singer! great shout-sung vocals, some weird breathing parts etc. you should be able to find sample mp3s if you try (of course I won't post a link here). I haven't been able to find a homepage, but their label is this one: http://pksp.jp/lrp/ and I've seen at least the recent split in some non-Japanese distros. so I'm defintely seeking these releases out. recommended! edith. apparently this is their homepage: http://realpunk.jp/ time to hone those rusty Japanese skillz (I have none). nice, I'll have to check thos out later. one last word of praise (solely on the basis of 告白を強いる伝染 of course): these guys do not run out of interesting riffs, never. great guitar-work. I'm led to believe that Japan is sitting on undeclared piles of heavy riffs. I wonder what the UN would have to say about that.

wow! I just stumbled across youtube videos by these guys a few weeks ago but had NO CLUE what their name was in romanized characters. Thank you so much for making this thread.
The vocalist using the other side of the drums almost to the same effect as a taiko drum (plus cymbals) really rules |

I'm not so into the vocals but overall I like the myspace tracks.
