Kyuss
This is the band that QOTSA formed from the ashes. They had quite a few releases in their history. Their two stand out cd's "Welcome to Sky Valley" and "Wretch" are great grooving cd's that demand your attention. They didn't make a huge name for themselves despite touring with Metallica on the imfamous Snake Pit tour in the early 90's. I guess this thread is open to discussions of any Kyuss related matters or stories or whatnot.

I doubt that you have to explain Kyuss to anyone here ...

probably not but i didnt see a thread for em so i started one besides im still relatively new to the forums.

Seriously, I know that Kyuss is getting a fair amount of revisionist ball-kicking lately, but that was a band to contend with. When "Blues For the Red Sun" came out, that was a sound unlike any we've heard.
Now of course, it's a sound we've all heard done over and over by a fair ass-load of copy cat bands. But none of 'em touched the glory of those three albums. My opinion of course. ;) |

FYI
Blues for the Red Sun /nitpicky bastard |
My personal favorite is Sky Valley. Of the three, I'd actually say I like BFTRS the least. I still like it a fuck of a lot, I just think the others are stronger. Scott Reeder's bass playing really kicks it up a notch. Yeah, my favorite band of all time.

As far as favorites go, it's hard for me to pick between Blues and Sky Valley. I also tend to think Circus is better than most people give it credit for. Wretch is mostly useless, except for "Big Bikes," which amuses the hell out of me.

Sky Valley.
Half of Blues is utterly fantastic, the other half is dull. |

Circus is my favorite.

Welcome to Sky Valley
Blues for the Red Sun And the Circus Leaves Town Wretch |
I don't worship them like some do, but there's no denying the talent that was in that band.
It's also interesting to see how different each members' solo/post-Kyuss bands have been. |
