I don´t know if somebody has posted it yet - but the Pentagram gig in London has now been officially cancelled. There were rumours that Internal Void would replace Pentagram for that show, but sadly that`s not gonna happen.
Witchcraft will play a headliner show together with Leafhound.
I just got notice from ticketweb, cos they asked me if I wanted to return my tickets...

Thats sad. Only thing positive is that I was again so lazy and never ordered ticket for myself...
Is this because of passports or Bobbys health?

I heard it was because he couldn`t get a visum.

It is because Bobby is miserable guy living with his parents who take care of him so he doesn't have to do anything and who doesn't dare to leave his hermetic local world. And I am not saying this to mock him now, but this seems to be the real reason. Sadly. Soon he will be alone again. With no band. I don't wonder why. I have to say I am bit angry.

well, I´m not angry anymore. I saw it coming. I`ll go to London anyway and try to make the best out of the situation.
Nothing wrong with London after all...

Nadine, love, you should be able to catch a great show with RB, Brocas Helm, among others the other day...that's worth the trip alone...I won't go, too little time, too much to do...I'll be in HOLLAND that weekend, watching Death SS playing their old show and doing the record fair at the Raise your fist festival

Future of Pentagram seems to be not too clear at the moment. Hopefully new guys will be found to back up Bobby´s mission.
I'll be in HOLLAND that weekend

What the fuck is Leafhoud?
Nadine

Leafhound? I don`t have any of their CDs, but my guess is: Stoner Rock!!!!

Leaf Hound is to my knowledge a bluesy hard rock band...and they date back to seventies, but I have never heard their music as I am gothic poser.
And I guess Bobby will have slight problems to find a new band behind him...If then some youngsters want to join a living legend.

Wrong, Nadine!!! Leaf Hound has nothing to do w/ stoner rock I´m afraid.

I then again I am not afraid but happy that they have nothing to do with stoner rock.

Well there seems to be a slight twist of psychedelia involved in this band. But Russ Smith said they are a killer liveband.

Hehe, nothing to do with stonerrock. Everything to do with Hippy-ism.
A round of mushrooms for the audience!

OK, that could be fun!!! and I do trust Russ` judgement! :)

I have one cd Grower of Mushrooms. Pretty cool heavy 70's stuff.
No surprise that this was cancelled. Albert stated it perfectly. I mean to my knowledge they've never even played Boston which is only up the coast about 400 mi. His addiction really killed any chances of them gaining real popularity/sucess.

Being a bit of a mama's boy is a recurring theme in the lives of many respected artists. Just think of R.E.Howard, Boyd Rice(?), Varg Vikernes...

GREETINGS.
I am sorry for the long absence of any information regarding the situation re Pentagram and the UK shows. It has taken a long, long, slog and many setbacks to be able to bring you the news. Here, however, at last, is the OFFICIAL STATEMENT.
As you know, the Underworld and the Peel venues in London were planning to be the first ever clubs to bring Pentagram to the UK. And in all honesty, everything looked rosy for a while. You will also be aware that soon after, at a show onstage in Washington DC, Bobby Liebling overdosed onstage and had to be hospitalised. This immediately set the tongues a wagging and placed the furture of the shows in jeopardy. However, we pressed on undaunted, and fought tooth nail and claw over the ensuing months to make the dream a reality. Unfortunately, as time wore on, and we still had no official word from guitarist/manager Kelly Carmichael (who to his credit really DID try to pull all the necessary irons out of the fire) we began to realise we were fighting a losing battle. In addition to which (my catchphrase, as there's always some extra fucking complication 'in addition' to ANYTHING these days) we both had little to time to keep chasing: John Twang at the Peel was so busy running an entire venue by himself AND a radio show, and I was in the middle of moving house and changing jobs, as my tenure at the Underworld is shortly to come to an end. Eventually the call came through from Kelly stating that finally the inevitable had crushed us and that the band would not be making it over here. The reason, it seems, lies obviously with Bobby, but not with his addiction. For one thing, it's crack he's addicted to now, as he managed to kick the 'done a year or so before. However, anyone who believes that Bobby is some wasted, seedy little individual living like a rat in a drug-infested sewer somewhere underneath Wahington DC is sadly mistaken. Bobby actually lives in fairly opulent comfort with his retired septaganerian parents in Arlington, Virginia, and is fairly well looked after. And that's the problem. Because he is cared for, not pressured, and because his folks, who were 'radical liberals' in their day, have even bought his drugs for him in the past, he doesn't feel he HAS to do anything. In short, Bobby is cosseted from the outside world, and will probably never leave the Virginia/Maryland/Delaware/DC belt for any reason, largely beacuse he doesn't have to. Kelly made him buy an expedited passport, but due to some typical US mail cockup it got lost in the post. However, instead of chasing it up and trying to find out what the issue was, he just ignored it. Because psychologically, although he is capable of talking up a good one when it comes to promoting a new album (which is EXACTLY what he's doing now, and why my offer of UK shows must have seemed such a godsend), the truth is he will NEVER tour in Europe because, either subconsciously or consciously, he just DOESN'T WANT TO. Eventually this lineup will collapse, like all the others have before it, and he'll retreat into the obscurity and almost virtual existence that his legend has foisted upon him. Then he'll come back in another coupla years, with a new band, and a new Pentagram album. And so on, and so on. What a fucking waste.
It breaks my heart to have to slag off one of my own heroes, but that's the truth in the cold light of day. Like many talented people, he'd rather hide than do anything positive. So, in the nicest possible way, although I still consider him to be the greatest metal frontman outside of Ozzy and Rob Halford, fuck him. In short, no, Pentagram will NOT be appearing. BUT, the show must go on, and go on it shall.
How? I hear a thousand voices cry. Well, I DID attempt to replace the 'Ram with either Trouble or Hidden Hand, but no dice. In the end, (and God bless them), Witchcraft, whom I know you all love, have agreed at the last moment to step up to headliner. Rise Above weren't keen at first, but- and I'm not too proud to admit this- I begged them. Because I know that many of you in the UK (not so many from abroad, though, mind) will still come and see them.
However, I wanted to make the show a little special, for the fans and for Witchcraft, so what else could I do but invite their other favourite band after Pentagram and Vitus- none other than the majestic LEAF HOUND, who some of you will have seen kicking it for Goblin in December, and whose legend as an influence on doom and stoner music is beyond question, to be special guests to them. AND, OF COURSE, where would we be without our mighty BLOOD ISLAND RAIDERS, who will also be on the bill dishing up their usual blend of Metallic delights? A fourth band, hopefully OBIAT, may well be added.
Obviously there's going to be some of you who are none too chuffed at the non-appearance of Pentagram, having already forked out £12, maybe even plus booking fee in some cases- so here's what I'm gonna do, as a favour to all you doomsters, hippies and just lovers of true metal out there- the advance ticket price (tickets remain on sale from all the usual outlets- Stargreen, Ticketweb, See, Worlds End, Resurrection) is now £7.50 rather than £12, and anyone who has already paid £12 and wishes to retain their ticket may have a refund of £4.50. Of course, FULL refunds are available for those who wish to now not attend, but I hope in all honesty that there will be hardly any of those, and that WITCHCRAFT, LEAF HOUND and BLOOD ISLAND RAIDERS will be enough to ensure you will still come. After all, Witchcraft are one of the greatest things, if not THE greatest, to happen to 'true' doom rock (as opposed to death doom, drone doom, Goth doom etc) in the last few years, and I believe they will flower into a legendary band. So come and support them while you can. Apart from anything else, do me a favour, as I retire from promoting on the 31st!!!
I am truly sorry that the dream never happened the way we wanted it to, but maybe that dream is one best left unfulfilled. However, with the lineup we DO have, we can prevent it becoming a nightmare.
Thus ends the official statement. I hope you will all be supportive, and thankyou for your patience. Doom or be fucking doomed, as per usual.

Witchcraft are the true sons of early Pentagram / Stonebunny...so in 10 years or so they might shred out an album of the "Day of Reckoning" quality...which shall not mean that their debut was bad...I just wanted to show their developement...

What a mess.
Still seems like a great line-up though.
I just feel really bad for Bobby. Its a miracle he's still alive.

I felt bad for a long time. Now I don't bother anymore. And I hardly can see Witchcraft becoming new Pentagram. Where Pentagram created something their own Witchcraft mostly uses already existing things. Their novelty of pure sonic puritanism will die with a time.

Yup. It's hearsay, but the source is fairly reliable...so brace yourself: Boyd at least used to live in his mother's basement. And not just as a kid. Boyd Aikamiespoika! Mother, I'm evil!
Albert Witchfinder
03-22-2005, 02:11 PM
Well I used to live with my mother until I moved to live with my wife. I was 22. Maybe Boyd had drunk all his money and he had to live there...or maybe he wanted to take care of her. Boyd is king!

I think he was a bit older.
I do not care about anyone's personal background or sexual preference when enjoying their art, but when the gay-aspect of, say Death In June or Boyd Rice, comes as a shock to neo-nazi numbskulls like Seppo Lehto, the pleasure of stating the obvious out loud is exquisite.
Albert Witchfinder

Boyd Rice is not gay. Dougie boy of course is...so was John Balance. Sleazy is too. Tibet is probablyt half homo I would say. But not Boyd. And who care anyway.
I think most of the neo-nazi trash are not aware of these bands. Why should they be? They have their Whiter Power bands or if they want to chill out with their non-political friends they can listen to Popeda or Klamydia or Diablo.

Boyd Rice is not gay.
Isn't he? He likes girl bands and uniforms and all that, so I guess that kinda misdirected me. Is there some proof of heterosexuality then? I want my Boyd gay! (He's a trickster, so he could be really into ponies for all we know...)
Not all neo-nazis have bad taste. And MOT's heavy metal special sure made the fuckers aware of DIJ...
