Yep, I'm always all over the place, so I wanted to get a home base for my three bands. Hence this new forum.

Floating Widget is currently on hiatus. We keep trying to figure out when to get together to finalize our second album. A good part of it is written. Likely sometime in 2009.

Madking Ludwig's first album was released in September 2005 on Gaia Disk. This is basically the other members' first real band, but I will introduce them here:

Stéphane Bellemare - Lead vocals, flute, clarinet
Raphaël Corbeil - Drums
Patrick Falardeau - Bass
Leïla Jolin-Dahel - Lead vocals
Stéphane Vigeant - Guitar (that's me)

More info is available here http://www.myspace.com/madkingludwig . In any case, I believe we're somewhere between stoner rock, 70's prog rock and metal.

Our second album, Seven Stairways, was released in June 2008. Recorded by Pierre Rémillard (Krisiun, Cryptopsy, A Perfect Murder) and Martin Dupuis. Mixed and mastered by Glen Robinson (Voivod, Queensryche, Gwar).

It's available for free download through Bland Hand Records.

Karmadoza's first EP came out mid-February 2006 on Gaia Disk. The band members are all involved in numerous other projects, here they are:

Raphaël Corbeil - Drums (Madking Ludwig)
François Legendre - Guitar (Paranoland, Groovy Aardvark)
Vicky Martel - Vocals (Venus 3, Killing Venus)
Vincent Peake - Bass (Floating Widget, Groovy Aardvark, Grim Skunk, Sabbath Café, Kosmos)
Stéphane Vigeant - Guitar (Floating Widget, Madking Ludwig, Groovy Aardvark)

The second album is a tribute to The B-52's. Tracklist in no particular order: 52 Girls, 6060-842, Channel Z, Dirty Back Road, Give Me Back My Man, Lava, Mesopotamia, Private Idaho, Queen of Las Vegas, Strobe Light, Whammy Kiss.

The album was recorded by Pierre Rémillard (Cryptopsy, Krisiun, A Perfect Murder), mixed by Glen Robinson (Voivod, Probot, Nashville Pussy) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Tool, Metallica, Slayer). It was released in December 2007 and is available through Itunes, Amazon, eMusic, etc.

Your bandmates have lots of extraneous punctuation in their names. Is that some kind of rock gimmick or something?

Ha, no gimmick, it really is that cool.

Hey Beth, thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, I'm anxious to get the album out, it's been dragging on for far too long. We weren't satisfied with the mastering so we're getting it redone. I just don't know when. It's kinda dumg, we're talking about half a day's work left, we just haven't set it up. Besides, the album cover isn't ready. I hate that part of it, it's a pain in the ass. Maybe I'll just stick the CD in a baggie....

LOL
It'll be worth the wait, I'm sure!
May as well get it done right.

O.K. my one high school french class was taken very loaded, but yes La Tray she was talking about you. Something like look at her with her accent and it is something again and a little something (cedille?) and even better (?) another something (cedille?). It's not important what wasted (????)

Blah, there I just confused you even more, reminder to self that learned over two decades ago while stoned is now useless.

Hey man, how's it going? Been a long time. I have the Madking master and cover in front of me on my desk and it should be going to print next week. Those freebies you are referring to were not Madking but Karmadoza. But I changed my plans a while ago (and I just adjusted the initial post). I'm not shopping it, so it won't be a promo CD. I'm releasing it as an EP instead, most likely on the same label that's putting out Madking Ludwig.

Floating Widget, well, I'm not sure that I'll be able to realize my plan of recording this fall. Looks more like 2006. Vince is busy finishing up the Groovy Aardvark farewell tour and will be in the studio in September for the next Grim Skunk album. And also, it looks like there's something else coming his way in the next couple of months and that will definitely take up a lot of his time.

We'll see, but I'm itching for some new material!

Yeah it has been a while, but rest assured, my copy of .... the Riff Monolith is still warm. Always in constant rotation.

When you guys played at Call the Office with ATP, I didnt really have the impression that Floating Widget is a side project. lol. I knew you played in your share of bands (past and present) but I had no idea about the rest of the band. Well at least you dudes are keepin busy with the rawk \m/ and not flakin out.

the Karmadoza stuff was pretty good too btw. As for 'freebies', lol, I don't care. just keep us all posted about releases. I dont mind payin' to support the RAWK! good thing too, cuz if I did mind, i would be one grumpy fucker due to the fact that I'd probably still shell out the dough.

just curious........ out of all these projects that you have on the go, do you have a favorite? (basing your answer purely on the sound or how you feel when you jam out/ perform.). probably a bit of a loaded question but hey, worth a shot........

I have to say that they tend to rotate based on what's going on. If I had to pick right now, most of my energy is on Karmadoza. I'm a big fan of female vocals and I just think that Vicky is a tremendously talented singer, a rare find.

But like I said, it always depends on what's going on. A month ago, it was Floating Widget as we were doing the shows with The Atomic Bitchwax.

BTW, Vince who plays drums and Frank who plays bass in Floating Widget, play bass and lead guitar (their natural instruments) respectively in Karmadoza.

Sweet.

Is it a common saying in Canada, that when you've eaten and had enough that you're 'full up'?

Widget
06-30-2007, 08:09 PM
Dunno, did I say that somewhere? I'd say that I'm full.

Chris
06-30-2007, 08:38 PM
You used it in another post, but it wasn't in relation to food. Alanis Morrisette used it in one of her songs as applied to food, though.

Never mind, just curious.

I'd use the full up idiom as a synonym to saturation but I don't think I'd use it in regard to food/eating. Does that help?

Chris
