View Full Version : Deathrow
The German version on Noise Records.
They were one of the few bands I followed through their entire recorded career.
They had traces of several different thrashed-out bands but to me they always held their own with other notable GER acts like Destruction and Kreator. Life Beyond had some great ideas but their execution was off by that time in '92.

"Raging Steel" because it's epic thrash metal (maybe the only album of this kind)
and "Deception Ignored" for its tech thrash high quality. Im voting for it, because its gonna get less voters than the others.. me thinks

Riders Of Doom. I was going through some not much played vinyls in my collection last weekend and listened it few times. Nice record, not a full ten but good solid german thrash. Deserves more spinning at my house.

Tough call between the first two but I went for "Raging Steel". Havenīt listened to DEATHROW in awhile so this thread has been good to help me pull out an oldie but goodie.

first album is the best, second is slightly worse, though different, after that they're just bland...all the german bands lost their spirit and vigour, trading it in for ''technicality'' in the end...the fucking reason why all the great german bands rocked was BECAUSE they were impetuous, reckless and spontaneous, i mean, listen to tommy's drumming on the first DESTRUCTION ep/lp!
once the bands started over-orchestrating and overthinking their work is when it all went painfully, painfully wrong, german thrash is supposed to be SLOPPY and OUTRAGEOUS (ie MINOTAUR, first VECTOM, POISON demos) , energetic with bludgeoning riffs..unless you were KREATOR (who actually got it right , LIVING DEATH, HOLY MOSES or MEKONG DELTA, you pretty much sucked as a german band trying to play something weird or technical..happened to DESTRUCTION, DEATHROW, DARKNESS, while IRON ANGEL and ANGEL DUST pretty much wimped out.
that's why SODOM has been more consistent than any of the great german bands...because they knew what they were good at, and stuck to making pummeling, consistently above average thrash their entire careers, instead of trying their hand at something dumb and pseudo-intellectual.
Raging Steel... Since I dig all their shit somewhat equal I voted for Raging Steel just for the simple reason that it was the first album I heard from them...
Man, Noise released some really wicked stuff back in those days...
