Human Mincer - Embryonized (Xtreem Music)
by Chris Barnes

Human Mincer, I'm told, is a death metal band based in Spain that got it's start way back in '96. They made their way around the underground for a long while, suffered the prerequisite staff changes (most notably in the vocalist department) and finally recorded a demo in 2001. That led to the signing of the band by Spanish label Xtreem Music and the album Embryonized which is now playing in the Hellride office. Loudly.

I can do this pretty quick: Ultra-downtuned guitars backed by a turgid bass tone and methodically precise percussion fronted by a vocalist who gives new meaning to the term "unintelligible". In fact, it kind of sounds like someone recorded intestinal gas in place of vocals. Suitably "brutal" for you freaks out there. I have no idea if the lyrics are in Spanish or English, but I guess it really doesn't matter.

Reminds me of early Cannibal Corpse in approach. If you like CC, you'll most likely dig this.

Track List:
1. Cerebal Torture
2. Death by Infestation of Grubs
3. Repugnant Desire
4. Embryonized
5. The Edge of My Perversion
6. Puterfact Agony
7. Son of Decay
8. Cannibal Resurrection
9. Filth´s Creator

Seems like this kind of music is on the rise again, met this guy when DJ'ing a releaseparty who plays in a band called Stabwound, and Chris says "intestinal gas", I say "pig-like" sounds from the singer. Well this band has just been signed with an american label, brutal records or something like that, for a 2 album deal to start with and you will most likely be able to catch them on tour in the US sometime soon.

I think I'll pass.

I like death metal, but I'm more of an old school DM fan... Unleashed, Grave, Autopsy... the ultra-low vocals of the newer stuff don't do much for me.
