Some of you may already have heard of the strange collective called Gnod. They have put out a number of demo, handmade cassette and split 7" releases, including a cool collaboration with White Hills. Pariah Child has now co-released their debut vinyl Have a browse at www.myspace.com/gnodgnod for an introduction to their heavy psych / kraut vibes. Not Doom by any means although if you like Hawkwind, Can and Liquid Sound Company then they may appeal...
Regarding the vinyl, their concept was to present a heavy side and a trance side. After a strange introduction, they launch into "Every River Hs A Source" which has a driving Hawkwind bass line and fitting vocals. This version is more in line with how they intended and floors an earlier rehearsal I have. The reverse is mellower. The single twenty minute jam, "Zeitgeist" might be compared to one of the longer instrumentals by Liquid Sound Company and is one of my favourite songs they have written. Quite simply, the guitar-led mantra builds and builds sucking you in as they go...
