Reviews    Thulsa Doom - The Seats are Soft but the Helmet is Way Too Tight (This Dark Reign)
by Chris Barnes

Gawdamn I LOVE this band! After their EP debut on Safety Pin Records, the amazing She Fucks Me (replete with Bill Clinton giving the horns), I knew this band would go on to do great things. Anyone into the Pawnshop/Kyuss weird tunings and song structures, and the pure RAWK fury of the Hellacopters or Backyard Babies, will dig this album...clearly one of the best this year.

The Seats... actually contains two tracks from the She Fucks Me EP, the blistering "Sins of the Next Man" and one of the songs on my all-time-top-ten, "Birthday Pony". The other eight tracks were recorded last year and offer the same kinda kingpin quality found on the EP with songs like "Centerfold Blues", "You go First" and who can forget "21st Century, Where Can I Get a Fuckable Little Grungette?" ? Not me pal, and you won't either.

The fact that producer Ole Petter Andreassen (who is a member of Black Debbath as well as recording and producing records for Gluecifer,The Cumshots, Hellride,The Retardos among others) handpicked each member of the band only adds a mountain load of credibility to Thulsa Doom. Seriously, fuck, shit.... I'm gonna shut up. Let's just leave it at that I really, REALLY, like this band. I haven't kissed so much ass since the Sea of Green interview...

10 out of 10. This is as good as quality hard rock gets. If I give out another 10 this year you have my permission to kick me in the balls.
