What an incredible work from this band of German descent. The Golden Bough is based on Sir James George Frazier's work of the same name, whose basic premise was that all European-originated religions were sparked from Stone-age fertility rituals and various territorial spiritual beliefs that grew as man spread took his dominion of the Earth.  Backed by classy production and elements of Epic Doom, Folk and Classic Metal, ATLANTEAN KODEX takes creative aplomb and musical ingenuity and blend it seamlessly into a exemplary musical work.  

...This band unleashes some of the most melodic and Olympian epic metal period and does it without losing the speed and heaviness that keeps it so well within the metal spectrum. Each track is lightly dusted with some epic doom, folk, and pagan influence but gladly set in the classic metal area and the result is so massive that it could probably crack the Earths surface. Check out the second track “Pilgrim” and you’ll hear a definite Candlemass/Solitude Aeturnus/Solstice sound complete with the opening epic doom riffing and the all consuming vocal delivery. Oh, and the truly breathtaking and grandiose opener "Fountain of Nepenthe" is definitely the initial and fatal blow to your senses, honestly this is just incredible stuff!!!!!
